Rules and Regulations
This first step in the
registration process is to ensure that the proposed name is available for
registration as a company. You can search ROC's Names
Index by using ROC online computer facility to check whether your
proposed name is identical to another name already registered. A search of
company names can be carried out at any ROC offices or can be done

you may apply the name using the Form 13A and lodge it with the prescribed fee
of RM30-00. If the application is
approved, the name will be reserved (protected) for a period of three
months. Even if ROC approves the reservation of
a name, or subsequent registration of a company's name, it does not mean that
you are exempt from action taken by another person or corporation with a
similar registered name. It is entirely your responsibility to
be aware of any problems that might arise from names already registered which
are similar to, or likely to be confused with, the name you

There are a number of regulations that apply when a company name is chosen.
The name you choose must be unique and must not include certain words.
You cannot choose a name that would be considered offensive or whose use would constitute a criminal offence.
In addition the approval of the Minister is required before a company may be registered by a name which would be likely to give the impression that the company is in any way connected with the Royalty, the Government, a local authority, or contains a word or expression specified in various “Regulations”.
